Part-time defender Antonio Candreva says he is not looking forward to a return to the Champions League and has called for his former club to be “rejected” by the Serie A champions.

The 28-year-old, who played with Roma from 2007-10, has been on loan at the Viola for two seasons.

“If the club wanted to come back, they would have been in the competition, not the Champions.

I know that Juventus and RCD are very good teams,” Candrevas told La Gazzetta dello Sport.”

They play in the Champions, but not in the league.

I want to see them play in Serie A, not in a cup competition.

We all want to play in Europe, but I don’t think we should leave Juventus and go back to Serie A. “We want to do the same things that Juventus did, and we all want the same goals, but if they are really serious, they should not have left.”

Roma and Juventus are the only two sides in Serie B to have won both the domestic and the Coppa Italia trophies in the same season.

The Bianconeri have not won a trophy since 2010, when they beat Lazio 4-0 in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
